Going to Disneyland was a treat for me and my family. To be honest, I don’t remember a ton of my earliest Disney memories, but I do have some awesome pictures. I was completely terrified of the characters. I would cry if Mickey even wanted to say hi to me or hug me. My dad thinks is was because on TV or in my books he was so small, and I didn’t expect to see a giant Mickey Mouse! Regardless, it made for some pretty hilarious photos. I do have great memories from when I was around 10 years old to now. It’s always been a magical place that feels like another fantasy world each time I enter it. Disneyland really doesn’t get old for me. And now that I have the amazing opportunity to work here, I’ve had gained so much respect for what Disneyland does every day to make this the Happiest Place On Earth.
I was at Disney California Adventure a few weeks ago with a couple of friends. We just wondered around a bit and went on a few rides. I brought my camera and had an awesome day capturing the imagination and color of this place. Right about the time I took my camera out the sun was setting, and the golden hour was upon me. I started snapping pictures down Buena Vista Street. Very soon after, Pluto is walking down the main road and of course I started getting some great shots of him. He noticed me taking pictures and came up to my camera lens like any curious and silly puppy would do! I was laughing so much and had a blast with him even though it was just for a moment. Later I looked at the pictures and my face lit up! I was able to capture how silly he was and how that made me feel. I experienced a magical moment even at my age! I am constantly reminded that Disneyland offers magic to everyone!
I love seeing the smiles and laughs when I wonder through the parks. I mention this all today, because it’s Disneyland’s 59th Anniversary! Walt Disney started a legacy of bringing happiness to people, and his vision still prevails today. I am privileged to experience some of the magic myself!
Happy Birthday Disneyland! Cheers to many more! Don’t mind me…I’m off to Disneyland to celebrate!
Love,
The City Feline
