DIY Personal Touches

Since graduation, a lot has happened. I moved to Southern California and started an internship for Southern California Tourist Sales at Disneyland. Moving to my new apartment been an awesome experience. I knew before I got here that I wanted to make my space as "home-y" as possible. I decided to do some DIY projects before the week I moved. (a bit of a crazy idea to that while packing!) Anyways, with the help from my lovely mother I got a few awesome projects done.

I'm going to share with you my two favorite things I did. First was making this awesome geometric pillow. I love all the bright colors and the shapes that make this pillow. I followed the instructions from A Beautiful Mess. I did all the placement and gluing. My mama did all the sewing. It was a team effort and I love how they look in my new room!

Of course during the move Carmello found a little spot to nap in!

The second project I took on was at my actual apartment. I had been looking up things to do to make a rental unique without paint or anything too permanent. I came across using fabric as wallpaper, and I was sold on the idea! All you do is use corn starch and water as the glue to paste the fabric. It will come off on it's own when I peel it. Or if it sticks a little, water will help take it off! Check out all the detail of the instructions on How About Orange. The prep is the longest part. My mama and I ironed the fabric to make sure it was neatly and smoothly pasted. It was such a fun project that I did with her.

He had some fun with the fabric before too :)

I am absolutely in love with all of the personal touches of my new room! Everything put together helped me settle in a bit easier. Thanks mama for all of your help! And thanks to her and my dad for helping me move ALL (a bit too much) of my stuff! Love you!
Love,
