Happy Halloween!

Halloween is probably my favorite holiday. I know...weird. Most people would think Christmas, but for some reason I love all the idea playful things a person can do during Halloween. Now let me be clear from the get-go, I cannot handle anything scary. So I'm not about haunted houses, horror nights, or even scary movies. No, that's not my cup of tea, and I don't feel like I'm loosing out at all.
On the other hand, the fall season totally warms me up for the Halloween spirit. Everything is beginning to be cozy, the colors of the leaves are vibrant with change, and I know that it's the season where decorating is in full swing! I guess you could say, I love all the cute and pretty things of Halloween. Painting pumpkins is something I've been doing for a couple of years, and I love it! Carving is fun too, but the pumpkins just don't last as long. This year I carved the cutest kitty cat pumpkin!

I also start beginning to drink gobs of tea on the regular, and I feel so warm from the inside out! Most of all, I LOVE dressing up! Granted, some years I'm more creative than others, but I think this year I did pretty well.
I try to come up with costumes that 1) don't seem like it's going to take forever to make and 2) can be made at home at a good price. This year since I'm working at Disneyland, I thought it would be fitting to dress as a Disney character. No..I wasn't going to wear a full fur costume, but I wanted to be themed! Of course, I did my due diligence and looked through Pinterest to finally figure what I wanted. Oh, and I wanted to make a couple's costume, which actually is a bit more difficult to do for a theme. After much thought, I decided to have Dominic and I go as Mary Poppins and Bert!

Let me give you a quick break down of how I compiled this:
Mary Poppins
Shirt: thrifted $2
Bow Tie: thrifted $2
Skirt: target $18
Tights: H&M on sale during the summer $2.50
Shoes: target from years ago (don't remember)
Hat: discount store and the flowers and ornaments are from Michaels (overall $25)

Bert
Dominic owned all the pieces he wore and I had the hat, so we paid no money for that part of the costume!
Chimney sweep broom:
Broom pieces: dollar store $1
Foam piece: Walmart $7
Spray paint: Walmart $2
I was completely happy with how are costumes turned out, and we have all the pieces now. Maybe I'll break it out again in a few years! When we went to Mickey's Halloween Party, we got so many compliments. I love it when people like my work! Hahaha...but really, I felt like it came out as a huge success!
Isn't Susie the cutest in her at Betty Rubble?
I hope you have a Happy Halloween! Please be safe in your festivities, and of course have fun!

Are there any Halloween costumes that you've made that you're super prod of? Or do you know of any other fun couple's costumes? I'm always on the hunt for a good theme :)
